Support in your local area:
The Coeliac Society of Victoria offers a statewide support service for members, not only at the Mount Waverley Support Centre but through the extensive network of groups which operate in metropolitan and country areas. These support groups are run by volunteers (area contacts) - providing a local contact as well as organizing gatherings according to the needs of the group.
If you are a current member and would like to find out more about what is happening in your area such as the availability of gluten free foods, planned get-togethers or just to have a chat, please contact our Support Centre for details of the volunteer area contact closest to you.

Volunteers:
Our Support Centre in Mount Waverley is operated by four staff members supported by a dedicated team of volunteers . As a not for profit organisation receiving no government funding, we rely on the assistance of volunteers and membership subscriptions to cover our yearly expenses.
Would you like to consider volunteering?
We can cater for individual skill levels and expertise. We offer full training in all aspects of volunteering which begins with a three hour training session on a Saturday at the Support Centre. This session enables volunteers to familiarise themselves with our operations and the services we provide. We also provide ongoing training to keep our volunteers informed and updated with the latest information.
There are many roles volunteers can perform, namely:
Talking face to face with the general public about coeliac disease
Providing advice and support on the telephone
General administrative tasks
Assisting at various events
Business Skills – such as marketing, public relations, and special projects as they arise
Your area of expertise not listed? – please let us know where you can assist us!!
Volunteering can be very rewarding and also improve your personal knowledge of coeliac disease and life on a gluten free diet. We welcome your participation in helping us to improve the services we provide.
All prospective volunteers are required complete an application form and attend an interview to discuss interest to establish how best we can help each other.
Please phone the centre Mon-Fri between 10.00am and 3pm - 9808 5566 to discuss the opportunities for volunteering.
